Rob Orlemans & Half Past Midnight

Paragon congratulates Rob Orlemans & Half Past Midnight on their well earned success in The Netherlands after the release of the new CD "Live In Chicago", recorded live at The Paragon Music Hall in Chicago and finalized at Paragon. Review as follows:

Rob Orlemans & Half Past Midnight
"Live In Chicago"

Savage Records SA 200214

Having released four albums and several singles this band don't have to prove themselves. Rob Orlemans & Half Past Midnight have amazed everyone with their brand new album, "Live In Chicago". Recorded in Sep 2002 with a live audience in Chicago's legendary Paragon Studio during HPM's midwest US tour, you can hear exactly were they stand regarding Blues-meets-rock. They take you with them on an interesting trip?passing sharp big-toned guitar solos and some poetic slower Blues songs. My opinion is that this is real high quality Blues-rock with a heavy and tight rhythm section, drummer Yuri Yeryomin and bassist Piet Tromp lifting Rob Orlemans to the highest performance level. Classic songs like "Got my Mojo Working" and "Hoochie Coochie Man", arranged to a very original Half Past Midnight sound, are given a really new dimension. Their own compositions such as "The Devil Told Me" and "Give That Thang To Me", are fresh and original, touching the soul through their honesty. Tommy McCracken, Jacob Dawson and "Brother" John Kattke, veterans of Chicago's Blues scene, were invited to the session and perform on several tracks adding a lot of variation to this album. Sometimes large slabs of Blues-rock can destroy everything between your ears but not Half Past Midnight, they sound pretty heavy but make you hungry for more. Excellent CD . . .? ? Bobtje Blues
